This course is designed to train you in the fundamentals of quantity surveying and provide you with an understanding of how to apply these skills in a professional setting. The program consists of 40 hours of classroom instruction, followed by 6 months’ work experience with a qualified professional who will assist you throughout your apprenticeship.

The course has been designed to be flexible enough so that it can accommodate those who want to take either the Diploma or Advanced Diploma route. If opting for the easy option (the DIPLOMA), students must have completed or be about completing their studies at university level (Bachelors degree); if opting for the more advanced route (ADVANCED), students need not have any prior knowledge about Quantity Surveying but should ideally have some relevant work experience under their belt!

The duration of the course is 2 years. The first year is in class and second year is on project site.

The DAE/DAF 1st Division prepares candidates for examination in Civil, Architecture and Electrical. The course is divided into 3 semesters.

The first semester comprises of theoretical knowledge on building regulations, surveyor’s duties, land surveying practice (including mapping), constructional drawing and contour drawing. In this semester students learn about the basic concepts of geometry, trigonometry and calculus with special reference to their application in land surveying.

The second semester focuses on practical training which involves carrying out surveys under controlled conditions using various instruments such as chainsaw etc., measuring distances from one point to another using any instrument like a tape measure or yardstick etc.; plotting points based on measurements made with different instruments; reading plans according to standard formats provided by government authorities (such as HEC) etc., calculating angles between lines drawn at different heights within buildings using protractor or transit wheel & compass etc., preparing drawings based on field notes made during fieldwork exercises carried out during previous semesters i
